St. Vincent Ferrer was born in Spain in 1350 and died in 1419 in France. Franciscan Media says:
The polarization in the Church today is a mild breeze compared with the tornado that ripped the Church apart during the lifetime of this saint … The Western schism divided Christianity first between two, then three, popes. Clement VII lived at Avignon in France, Urban VI in Rome.
Ferrer’s role in the Schism is complicated, but he is the Patron Saint of Reconciliation, although it sounds to me more like he helped to repress the last schismatic Pope. Maybe that’s a lesson. He’s also the Patron Saint of Businessmen and Builders, so he’s presumably watching over Donald J. Trump right now.
Oh, and it’s also the first night of Passover.
It has now become a multicultural must to step on Christmas by never mentioning it except in connection with other “holidays,” notably Hanukkah, aptly described by American Heritage’s Frederic Schwarz (December 2000) as the “Jewish Kwanzaa.”
Somehow, however, the MSM neglects to provide the nearest Saint’s day in the Christian calendar to each year’s Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Passover — there are a lot of Saints! So it has become a VDARE.com service (as so often) to fill the gap.
VDARE.COM wishes ALL our readers a Happy. We mean it.
