Were America a nation truly infested with white privilege/white supremacy/institutional racism/systemic racism/implicit bias/redlining/sundown towns/legacy of Jim Crow, we’d never have heard the end of what happened to Kayla Chapman on January 22, 2019.

Kayla, a 30-year-old white female, was working as a cashier at a convenience store, when she was shot to death by a black career criminal.

Williams appeared in court on Thursday. The judge read the criminal complaint in the courtroom, which said a scar on Williams’ hand and witnesses identified him as the suspect. The judge also read the chilling details of the homicide, as alleged in the court document. He said Williams had a gun out when he walked into the market at 4:10 a.m. The paperwork said Williams tried to fire the gun early in the robbery, but it didn’t work. After Chapman handed over cash and cigarettes, Williams, who had fixed the gun, allegedly shot her once in the neck.

A stolen car used by Williams during the crime was found in Vancouver by Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and Vancouver police officers. Court documents said Williams stole the car from a woman he knows. When she saw the connection to the murder, she called police. Kelso police continue to search for at least two other people who were in the suspect’s vehicle. Anyone with information about the two other suspects is asked to call Kelso police at 360-423-1270. The victim, Kayla Chapman, called 911 around 4 a.m. Tuesday after she was shot while working at Holt’s Quick Check at 400 North Pacific Avenue, Kelso Police Captain Darr Kirk said. She died from her injuries.

“Given her wounds, it was remarkable that she was able to call 911,” Kirk said.

The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy Wednesday and said Chapman was shot in the neck and chest and her cause of death was homicide. Chapman was a graduate of Kalama High School in 2007 and lived in the Kelso area ever since, according to police. Jessica Rodriquez lives near the market and said she visited with Chapman regularly. “She was like the town’s best friend. If you need someone to talk to or advice or even somebody just to cry … she’d always be there,” Rodriquez said.

Williams has an extensive criminal history. He’s made 14 court appearances as a juvenile offender since 2011, mostly for theft and robbery, but also for assaulting a law-enforcement officer in 2017. HIs first reported court appearance was for third-degree theft in September 2011, when he was 11 years old. In 2014, Williams and a 19-year-old man were arrested for robbing a gas station in Vancouver, according to The Columbian. Williams was 14 at the time. During the robbery, Williams held a knife to a customer’s throat and forced him into a store cooler.

Yes, she was murdered by a black career criminal, whose first criminal act was when he was only 11-years-old.

But this story barely made the news in the state of Washington, let alone the entire nation.

Why?

Because the USA is not a nation fueled by white privilege/white supremacy/institutional racism/systemic racism/implicit bias/redlining/sundown towns/legacy of Jim Crow, but by the exact opposite. We are a nation dominated by white guilt and by people afraid to point out the reality of interracial crime, knowing such an act would be a betrayal of our devotion to the principles of Black-Run America (BRA).

Almost two years after her murder, we finally find out happened to the black career criminal who murdered her.

A Cowlitz County jury has convicted a Vancouver man of robbing and fatally shooting convenience store cashier Kayla Chapman in 2019.

After a week-and-a-half trial, jurors deliberated for less than three hours before finding D’Anthony Williams guilty Thursday on all but one charge, The Daily News reported.

The 20-year-old was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm, first-degree murder in the course of another crime, first-degree robbery with a firearm, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine. The jury found Williams not guilty of second-degree taking a vehicle without permission.

Williams was accused of robbing 30-year-old Chapman at gunpoint at Holt’s Quik Chek Market in Kelso before fatally shooting her in the early hours of Jan. 22, 2019.

Police believe Williams and two companions came to Kelso for a drug deal that was unsuccessful, then looked for a store to rob, according to court documents.

The trial concluded Thursday, with Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Eric Bentson saying how the “overabundance” of evidence — including Facebook messages, video surveillance, DNA samples and cellphone mapping — linked Williams to the crime.

Defense attorney Joshua Baldwin said the question wasn’t if the crime was committed, but who did it.

The scientific evidence corroborates testimony from witnesses identifying Williams from the video or placing him at the crime scene, Bentson said.

The investigation of the killing led to a shootout in Portland on Interstate 205 and I-84 as Vancouver police chased a suspect from Washington into Oregon.

Her name is Kayla Chapman. She was a white female murdered by a black career criminal over what amounts to a pack of cigarettes and less than a hundred dollars in cash… white privilege indeed.
