The Seattle Times began a series on homelessness in the Sunday edition. Monday’s homeless story is about refugees, Somalis and folks from SE Asia. After reading Sunday’s story on a mother and her teen son who were Americans, one has to wonder why we need to import Third World refugees to add to our homeless population. Hopefully, these stories will make readers as angry as I feel now about sharing resources with refugees when so many Americans have no shelter or food. Here is the link to the refugee story:Refugees face homelessness all over again in U.S., By Lornet Turnbull, Seattle Times, August 30, 2010 It reminds me of the story many years ago by Roy Beck who wrote about the Hmong in Wassau for the Atlantic Monthly.
