Hong Kong Protesters vying for US support as Mainland China begins to crack down on dissent are using American flags and Pepe the frog. They chant “liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times” after what started out as a protest against Mainland extradition has devolved into cyberpunk chaos.

Hong Kong protesters are also waving the American flag and singing the US National Anthem in an attempt at gaining sympathy from across the ocean. Strangely, close to half of American citizens have more contempt for the American flag than these Hong Kong protesters.

Mainland China is straight up calling out America for interfering in their national interests.
"As you all know, they are somehow the work of the US," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a press conference in Beijing. Chinese state media reports "It is an open secret in Hong Kong that the forces protesting the extradition bill have been sponsored by the US."
Pepe the Frog has become the unofficial mascot of Hong Kong protesters. This is a fairly obvious call for sympathy from the American right wing. (Although it might cause Congressional Republicans to pass some kind of "Resolution" against Hong Kong.)
Signs in English, Pepe the Frog, American flags and the American National Anthem are all blatant attempts at winning over the American public to support Hong Kong over Mainland China.
I cannot say whether US intelligence agencies are involved in fomenting dissent in the region as Mainland China claims — maybe they need to spend three years investigating “American collusion.”
