Along with felafel and enchiladas, immigration diversity brings death. As hinted by this story of the appearance of honor killing in America, most non-western cultures are deeply misogynist. The women of those societies have no rights or freedom, and murder is the punishment for disobedience. USA Today has noticed that female corpses are starting to accumulate.
['Honor killings' in USA raise concerns, November 29, 2009] Muslim immigrant men have been accused of six "honor killings" in the United States in the past two years, prompting concerns that the Muslim community and police need to do more to stop such crimes.Interestingly, this article about honor killing named only one of the six victims, Noor Almaleki. The others are just a statistic, left unidentified in another disrespect from the press."There is broad support and acceptance of this idea in Islam, and we're going to see it more and more in the United States," says Robert Spencer, who has trained FBI and military authorities on Islam and founded Jihad Watch, which monitors radical Islam.
Honor killings are generally defined as murders of women by relatives who claim the victim brought shame to the family. Thousands of such killings have occurred in Muslim countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan and Palestinian territories, according to the World Health Organization. [ … ]
In the USA, police allege the latest "honor killing" was that of Noor Almaleki, 20, who died Nov. 2 after she and her boyfriend’s mother were run over in a Peoria, Ariz., parking lot. Prosecutors charged Almaleki’s father, Faleh Almaleki, with murder, saying the Iraqi immigrant was upset that his daughter rejected a husband she married in Iraq and moved in with an American.
The omitted others probably included teen-aged sisters Amina and Sarah Said (pictured above) killed by their father for having American boyfriends; Sandeela Kanwal who was murdered by her father for wanting out of an arranged marriage; and Aasiya Hassan who was beheaded in Buffalo by her husband for wanting a divorce. (I've covered all these cases individually in this blog.)
Hmm, that’s five, so I am missing one. Perhaps Fauzia Mohammed is number six according to USA Today’s list. She was a "bad Muslim girl" in the opinion of her brother, which he believed entitled him to be her executioner.
Also noteworthy was the rather weak responses of experts to first-degree murder.
"It’s usually the father, brother or first male cousin who is charged with the actual shooting or stabbing, (but not) the mother who lures the girl home," [feminist Phyllis] Chesler says. "The religion has failed to address this as a problem and failed to seriously work to abolish it as un-Islamic."Instead of implausible hopes for Islam to enter the modern world, how about tougher punishment? The firm promise of serious hurt to the perp is the message our society must send. Legislation to mandate capital punishment for honor killing in America would emphasize the importance we citizens place on assimilation.[Islam reformer Zuhdi] Jasser says his community needs to address how to treat young women who want to assimilate. "Until we have women’s liberation … we're going to see these things increase."
Plus ending Muslim immigration altogether. That would be a fine step toward sanity.
