The race for the next chair of the Democratic National Committee is shaping up as a test of whether the Democrats will double down on their Europhobia by picking a part-time chairman in Muslim black Congressman Keith Ellison. Or will the Democrats go back to Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor who was highly successful in the post in 2005 through 2008, and is willing to do the job full time. From The Hill:
During the 2006 and 2008 elections cycles, Democrats gained 52 House seats, 14 Senate seats, 7 governorships and the White House in 2008. During his DNC tenure, Dean focused on a 50-state strategy and to build up the party even in more Republican strongholds. But Dean is a straight white man.
Update: It’s been pointed out to me that I don’t actually know anything about internal Democratic politics and that Ellison is an interesting figure.
