Well, this is a Narrative Collapse.A New York man who was once featured in a Time magazine cover story about immigration reform has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography. However, Judge Nicholas Garaufis (frequently mentioned on VDARE.com) actually felt sorry for him and let him off easy.Roy Naim, 32, who was featured in the 2012 story titled 'We are Americans … just not legally', was also convicted in 2014 for attempted exploitation.
Federal agents found porn that depicted boys as young as nine years old performing sexual acts on Naim’s computer. He admitted to viewing and downloading the porn for multiple years.
They were led to his Brooklyn home after arresting suspected child porn producer Johnathan Johnson, who fooled underage boys into thinking they were video conferencing with teenage girls and then recorded the acts.

Much of Naim’s defense focused on the supposed hardship he faced as part of an Orthodox Jewish community, where his urges were apparently "more than frowned upon." (Well, I should hope so!)A Brooklyn man featured in a Time magazine cover story on immigration reform was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for sexually exploiting a boy with brain cancer and possessing kiddie porn videos.
Roy Naim, 32, faced life in prison without the possibility of parole under federal guidelines.
But Brooklyn Federal Court Judge Nicholas Garaufis gave him the mandatory minimum, calling the guidelines “incredibly excessive and irrational,” particularly in this case.
“Congress wants to make a show of their outrage, but they’re not doing justice,” Garaufis said. “And if the Sentencing Commission doesn’t want to do justice, they should all just resign.”

Naim is an Israeli national whose father overstayed his visa when Naim was three. This of course makes him a heroic civil rights hero and according to the Daily Mail, he became known as the "Jewish face of the immigration reform struggle."[See The Jewish Face of the Immigration Reform Struggle, By Yermi Brenner, Forward.com, July 28, 2013] Naim will be deported back to Israel after his sentence is complete.
Obviously, it’s a bit unfair to focus on one criminal’s misdeeds and say that therefore everyone involved in the "immigration reform struggle" is like this.
But the way "immigration reform" (aka Amnesty/Immigration Surge) is being sold to the American people is by presenting each of the illegals involved as heroes, victims, and moral exemplars.
The Main Stream Media presents a biased picture. Thus, the sad and sick tale of Roy Naim is just as relevant to this debate as the next MSM sob story about the illegal immigrant who ignored American laws but should be rewarded because he has a heart of gold.
