Clayton Cramer had a post the other day called Admitting The Goal is to Not Hire An AmericanHe was linking to a Network World post about the infamous Cohen & Grigsby immigration conference where Lawrence M. Lebowitz [Send him mail] is explaining how to advertise for a job so as to not get an American worker. Randall Burns and I both blogged about this earlier — see the video here.
Lawyers in a how-to video: as in how to avoid hiring an American Submitted by Paul McNamara on Tue, 06/19/2007 — 9:18am.Watch this video and keep it in mind the next time you hear a high-tech industry titan such as Bill Gates complain that he simply cannot find qualified American employees and therefore the country needs more H-1B visas: You'll see a panel discussion that looks like a sit-down with "the families" on The Sopranos, only instead of talking about organized crime these lawyers are discussing the ins and outs of helping employers side-step immigration law.
Cramer, who’s a software professional when he’s not blogging, stargazing, or writing about American history, recounts that years ago he hired a foreigner when he genuinely couldn’t get an American, but the man he hired was a South African. I don’t think they're included in Bill Gates’s plans.
