Immigration Restrictionist Sentiment by Country

By Audacious Epigone

Unfortunately the latest iteration of the World Values Survey does not include responses to this question from either India or China, but it does sample 48 countries. Hong Kong and Taiwan are among them. They presumably shed some light on how the Han feel about open borders. They’re opposed.

The following table shows the percentages of respondents, with the 2.4% of respondents who gave a “don’t know” or no answer at all excluded, who say immigration into their country should be strictly limited or prohibited entirely (N = 66,203):

Country %restrict
1) Malaysia 81.5
2) Indonesia 80.2
3) Lebanon 79.3
4) Taiwan 79.2
5) Philippines 78.1
6) Jordan 76.6
7) Greece 72.6
8) Russia 72.3
9) Cyprus 72.0
10) Bolivia 71.1
11) Peru 70.9
12) Vietnam 69.9
13) Iraq 69.6
13) Turkey 69.6
15) Egypt 68.9
16) Myanmar 67.6
17) Ecuador 66.8
18) Thailand 64.4
19) Hong Kong 64.0
20) Kazakhstan 63.1
21) Colombia 60.6
22) Kyrgyzstan 60.2
23) Pakistan 59.1
24) Japan 56.5
25) Iran 55.4
26) Zimbabwe 54.0
27) Guatemala 53.6
28) Ukraine 52.0
29) Ethiopia 51.8
30) Chile 51.2
31) United States 48.9
32) Tajikistan 48.8
33) Australia 48.1
34) Romania 47.8
34) Serbia 47.8
36) Nigeria 46.9
37) Argentina 46.8
38) Brazil 46.6
39) Tunisia 45.8
40) New Zealand 45.5
41) South Korea 43.8

44) Macau 39.1
45) Nicaragua 38.4
46) Germany 35.0
47) Puerto Rico 33.8
48) Andorra 28.1

With the exception of South Korea, East and Southeast Asia are pretty restrictionist. Modern America is relatively xenophilic. Russians are not, another reason our cosmopolitan elites hate them. Germany continues to abolish itself.
