First picture: Local hostility to the continuing presence of 26,000 U.S. troops in Okinawa, recently inflamed by (a) the alleged rape of an Okinawan woman by two U.S. sailors, and (b) the stationing in Okinawa of twelve of the allegedly accident-prone Osprey vertical take-off planes.
Third picture: France is trying to emulate Germany’s Mittelstand ? medium-sized family-owned businesses. (No, I don’t get the imagery either. American eagle, British lion, Russian bear, Chinese dragon, sure; but French rooster?)
Fourth picture: Something to do with banking in Brazil. No, really.
