Ingraham Coup — Rand Paul: Boehner Could Fall On Amnesty Betrayal

Paul and Ingraham: Even TIGHTER, Laura!

Via One Old Vet I learn that Laura Ingraham has adroitly steered Rand Paul into saying something important about House Speaker John Boehner:

…he has to hold the line. I think if he [Boehner] allows something to pass out of conference that looks anything like the Senate bill and it is passed with a majority of Democrats, I think that’ll be the final thing he does as speaker … I hope he will defend us on this and not pass something that looks like the Senate bill.”

(VDARE.com emphasis) Rand Paul: Boehner speakership in jeopardy over immigration reform By Jeff Poor The Daily Caller 08/30/2013

Laura Ingraham has emerged as a marvelous patriotic champion in the 2013 Amnesty/Immigration Acceleration Campaign, largely in the opinion of our trusty Talk Radio Listener because she is such an effective cross-examiner (a thing the otherwise great Rush Limbaugh does not do). Rand Paul probably regrets being on her show.

I do not think much of Rand Paul. Peter Brimelow, who was intrigued by Paul’s (fleeting) apparent interest in an immigration moratorium, now says

My impression of Rand Paul is that he literally hasn’t thought about the immigration issue (not unusual for cloistered libertarians) and doesn’t really understand it. (In the video linked here, although commendably citing Milton Friedman on the incompatibility of immigration and the welfare state, he confuses green cards with citizenship).

But Patriots reap two important encouragements from Laura Ingraham’s enterprise

• Rand Paul was probably ad libbing to something he has actually heard in the sewers of Congress and the gutters of Inside the Beltway GOP discussion
• Any public mention of this wonderful idea could ignite a brushfire. The 2010 Anchor Baby/Birthright Citizenship conflagration apparently began with a careless response by the disgusting Lindsey Graham to a town hall question that year.

No wonder Graham has stopped having them!
