"Jihadi-Cool" In Once-Great Britain

By James Kirkpatrick

08/23/2014

A "British man" most likely decapitated reporter James Foley — and you can guess the British media’s reaction.

All together now — The Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam!

Iqbal Sacranie, an adviser to the Muslim Council of Britain, said Britons from across the country’s communities had to stop young men being seduced by radical ideologies.

"This sub culture of this 'jihadi-cool' — as they call it in the media — within the margins of society … that is the real challenge," he told BBC Radio. "This is a problem that affects all of us and it will only be dealt with more effectively if all of us are working together on this."

Sacranie said the Muslim community was pushing the message that "this is totally alien to Islam" and families were reporting to the authorities when they discovered their sons had headed to the Middle East to fight. He also told London’s Evening Standard newspaper that anyone who recognized the man in the video had a duty to contact police.

Of course, this is less a problem of foreign policy than a problem of immigration policy. There was nothing so uniquely horrible about the United Kingdom or any other European nation that was somehow improved by letting in millions of Muslim immigrants. Furthermore, there’s no reason to expect followers of a famously militant faith to assimilate to a culture so weak that it admitted them to the first place.

Unless Western men and women are allowed to express pride in their own identity, "jihad" will continue to be considered cool. After all, Islamic radicalism is simply an exaggerated version of the anti-Western creed that every media outlet, major political figure, and cultural symbol says is morally correct.

Of course more British Muslims fight for ISIS than for the Queen. [What makes some British Muslims become jihadis? by Daniel Hannan, Telegraph, August 22, 2014]

Why should British Muslims serve a country that they have been told is full of racists? What did Open Borders advocates think would happen?
