Whether Obama was intentionally lying about Obamacare for illegals, or simply deluded himself that he could pass a legislative miracle of some kind, he was clearly saying "the thing that is not" in his speech, when Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!"
But anything you say about Obama is automatically a gaffe, I said that before he got elected, and it’s even truer now.
Jimmy Carter has weighed in on the attack, saying that Wilson’s protest was "based on racism", and that an "overwhelming portion" of the protests against Obama and Obamacare are based on the same thing.
Of course, as Tom Tancredo pointed out, Rep. Wilson can be said to have won this argument. And we all know what that means, don’t we?
“Because the term “racist” is now so debased, I usually shrug such smears off by pointing to its new definition: anyone who is winning an argument with a liberal."[Peter Brimelow, 1995]
