In the March 8th Los Angeles Mayoral election, Republican and immigration reform candidate Walter Moore finished sixth.Although there are more than 1.8 million registered voters in Los Angeles, only 408,000 ballots were cast. Moore received 10,359. The incumbent, Mayor James Hahn, got only 89,189.
A run-off between first-place finisher Antonio Villaraigosa and incumbent Mayor James Hahn will be held on May 17th.
I can’t deny that this is a disappointment. My column this weekend will analyze why Moore didn’t do better.
Some of the reasons — the craven failure of the Republican Party to support Moore, the only Republican in the race — are all too familiar.
But other reasons will surprise you.
