The New York Times’ ever sullen Nicholas Kristof tells us what a refugee looks like. Of course, it’s a 14-year-old girl. And “[i]f Elena, 14, is sent back to her country,” the front-page teaser says, “she may be murdered.”Sure, refugees bring challenges, including security risks. They also bring hard work, diversity and global connections. On balance, they strengthen this country, and they deserve our protection — and girls like Elena should prick our conscience when we turn our backs on them. Watch Elena’s story.Well, this also is what a refugee looks like .
And if we let any more like him in the country, an American named Elena may be murdered. Perhaps Kristof should watch that story.
