Mexicans, Marines, Murders, And The Media: The Explanation
01/22/2012
Recently I wrote that
In the Itzcoatl Ocampo trial, you will see a thousand headlines saying "Marine Accused" of killing homeless men for every one that says "Mexican Accused".
I see that this same media pattern has been repeated at least twice before, in 2008 and 2005.
- In 2008 it was the killing by the Mexican-born Cpl. Cesar Laurean, USMC, a naturalized citizen, of an American-born woman, Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach, and her unborn child.[Mexican Marine Commits Murder — And Which Fact Goes In The Headline?, January 21, 2008]
- In 2005, it was Lance Cpl. Andres Raya, who killed Sergeant Howard Stevenson, and was killed himself, attempting to rob a liquor store in Ceres, CA. [The Truth About That Cop-Killing Mexican Anti-War Marine, by Michelle Malkin on January 18, 2005]
Neither Laurean, who had never been overseas, nor Raya, a cocaine-using gang member who had been deployed, but not in combat, could blame their crimes on "stress," but the media is frequently happy to do so.
They are not happy to mention that Itzcoatl Ocampo is a native of Mexico who apparently stabbed four white men, in what is presumably some form of hate crime.
Why is this? The answer is that the media disapproves of the invasion of Iraq … but approves of the invasion of America.
