By Former Agent

Back when I first started with the Border Patrol, there would be a lull in crossings around Christmas time (Feliz Navidad). After the New Year, there would be an immediate increase in crossings. The senior Agents told us trainees that a lot of Mexicans would head home for the holidays, then cross back after visiting parents and relatives. Even then when we were trying to catch aliens it didn’t speak well for our success rate considering that the average illegal alien Mexican had such contempt for our ability to catch them all that they felt free to cross back into Mexico every year and then assumed they'd be able to sneak back in without being caught.
Years later in my career, I remember one of our guys coming across a van full of Chinese who had been working at a Chinese restaurant. Every single one had qualified for political asylum and received green cards. Some research revealed that after receiving their green cards, every single one of them returned home to China for a visit.
Keep in mind, the idea behind political asylum was that you are supposed to be afraid to return to your home country. The laws governing asylum were set up in the 1950s with the Holocaust in mind. Imagine a Jew fleeing 1930s Germany in fear for their lives, then returning to Germany immediately after being granted asylum in England or America.
It’s one of the reasons why I believe that the current asylum laws are all a joke, just a loophole to allow people from failed countries to enter successful western countries.
So, I wasn’t surprised to see this headline out of England: Migrants applying for asylum are going home for Christmas, Border Force chief reveals [by Natasha Clark, LBC, December 22, 2023].
Phil Douglas is DG of Border Force at the Home Office. He’s shocked people in the middle of their asylum applications are flying home for Christmas, after carrying out exit checks.

Of course they’re going home for Christmas. They have complete contempt for the asylum laws as well they should. They need not fear: do-gooder, holier than thou organizations will make excuses for why they needed to return home for the holidays, and liberal judges will cover for their clearly fraudulent asylum applications.
Deep down, neither the illegal aliens, the NGOs who profit from them, the virtue signaling immigration judges, or the immigration officers assigned to enforcing the joke of laws actually believe the majority of asylum claims. Yet, everyone plays along with the charade.
