H/T One Old Vet
On Monday afternoon One Old Vet posted a compendium of 26 stories on Amnesty.
Of these unquestionably the most dramatic was New poll suggests Obama may have difficult time pushing for immigration reforms by Wendy Zachary Allvoices.com Feb 21, 2013
According to a newly conducted poll by Reuters/Ipsos, the majority of American citizens believe that all or most illegal immigrants should be deported.
Thirty percent of those who were polled think that with some exceptions, the rest of the illegal immigrants should be deported; while 23% say that all of the illegal immigrants should be sent back to their countries of origin. Just 5% believe that illegal immigrants should be provided a legal path to eventual citizenship
(VDARE.com emphasis) Only one out of twenty Americans approves of the Rubio/Obama plan!
The poll also shows the views of both parties on the issue — 75% of the Republicans favor deporting all or most of the immigrants, while 40% of the Democrats think the same.
This may explain a worried story on Politico Signs of immigration roadblocks in Congress by Kate Nocera 2/24/13
The push for immigration reform on Capitol Hill has been in overdrive thus far in 2013, but last week’s recess serves as a reminder — if one was needed — that the issue is far from settled.Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who was part of the failed 2007 immigration reform effort and is taking a lead role in the Senate bill this year, faced angry constituents at a series of town halls in his home state.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said he does not support an eventual path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
Arizona’s four Republican congressmen sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner voicing opposition to the Senate plan, another indication that eventual legislation will be a tough sell in the GOP-controlled House.
Politico orchestrated some advice
A former Bush administration official who worked closely on the 2007 effort said last week that the key to getting a bill passed is getting legislation to the floor quickly so senators don’t “lose their nerve.”
“…the longer there is between the time you unveil the proposal and the time you vote on the proposal, the more likely it is it will not make it all the way through the passage,” the official told reporters in the Capitol. “Simply because when you have recesses, and members go home, and they have to confront angry constituents…that begins to shake their confidence.”
Really disgusting things, constituents!
OOV’s collection illustrated how serious the Conservatism Inc boosting of Bobby Jindal is. A Bloomberg story gloating Immigration Shift by Republicans Silences Crackdown Governors by Michael C Bender and William Selway Feb 24, 2013 was run by Newsmax with the headline Jindal Leading Republican Governors' Shift on Immigration although the story only mentions Jindal as one of several Governors.
Regular readers of these analyses will note that almost no dissent is being allowed to surface in the MSM on Amnesty. Repression is near total.
The Drudge Report carried nothing (0) on the issue, and has not done so since Wednesday afternoon. Not even the devastating Reuters poll was allowed to distract the Drudge readers. As the “Bush official” noted, the key here is to avoid “angry constituents”. Got to follow orders!
