More Voting Rights Act Decision On Twitter, Including Matt Yglesias Accusing NATIONAL REVIEW Of Being Pro-White

By James Fulford

The Voting Rights Act decision takes away Federal control of local voting rules, especially in the South.

Huge Supreme Court decision restores power to states to run their own election. https://t.co/Qcg7bjEzR0

Robert Stacy McCain, who lives in the South, Tweets:

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!" https://t.co/X4l6pvcFwe — via @instapundit

Sean Trende links to someone reacting rationally:

A good take on the Section 4/5 case from Wonkblog. https://t.co/YQDzeLDzYm

Melissa Harris-Perry (a nominally black lady professor) thinks this has taken away her "citizenship."

Meltdown of the day: Melissa Harris-Perry laments loss of citizenship after SCOTUS' VRA decision https://t.co/blRU12Mk70

Matt Yglesias, who is nominally Hispanic, is going on about the evils of the old National Review.

NRO hails SCOTUS VRA ruling as a “civil rights victory” and obviously they would know: https://t.co/OfqGXqjmGT

Previous National Review editorializing on voting rights issues had more straightforward framing: https://t.co/c7zV1IOk1E

It’s true that in the old days(50 or 60 years ago) National Review took the Southern, white, side of the Voting Rights issue, see here, and here. But they've more or less given that up.

Ask John Derbyshire if you don’t believe me.

P.S. Has Matt Yglesias visited Birmingham, Atlanta, or Memphis, recently to enjoy the consequences of Voting Rights Act? NRO staffers were a little freaked out by Charlotte, NC.

And Dave Weigel asks a question:

Somebody tell me again why we can’t have universal, easy voter registration and voter ID

— daveweigel (@daveweigel) June 25, 2013

Answer: because it’s racist. The Mexicans have it, and everybody knows they're racist.
