New Jersey Man (Korean Exchange Student) Arrested For Repeatedly Running Over Girlfriend

It’s only in the last paragraph, where I've added two kinds of emphasis, that you find that Charles Ann isn’t in any rational sense a "New Jersey man" — he’s an exchange student, which means that he’s not even an immigrant, but a visitor for Korea. Presumably, he was planning to return to Korea at the end of his studies, a plan which may be delayed by about 20 years or so.

That means that the headline should say "Korean who repeatedly drove over his girlfriend’s lifeless body … ", but perhaps the Asian American Journalists Association would protest.

New Jersey man who repeatedly drove over his girlfriend’s lifeless body extradited to face murder charges | Charles Ann was found hiding in Flushing, Queens with cash and a passport

The New Jersey man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend by repeatedly running her over with his car was extradited from Queens Friday to face murder charges in Bergen County.

Charles Ann, 26, was escorted out of Queens Supreme Court by New Jersey detectives after a Queens judge ordered him held in lieu of $3 million bail.

Ann looked straight ahead and said nothing on his way out.

“He seems very sympathetic,” said Uchenna Emeagwali, Ann’s lawyer. “He understands what he’s done. My heart goes out to the family.”

Ann mowed down Aena Hong, 25, Monday night in Fort Lee, N.J. following a lover’s spat when she told him she wanted to break up after a year of dating. Ann used his Hyundai Sonata to roll back and forth over Hong’s body three times while witnesses watched in horror.

She was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Early the next day, cops found Ann hiding in a friend’s Flushing apartment. He had abandoned the Hyundai a mile from the scene, New Jersey prosecutors said.

Ann, a foreign exchange student from Korea, had a large stash of cash and a passport with him when he was arrested, leading cops to believe he was about to flee the U.S.
