NYT: "There Are Few Female Legislators Anywhere in America." WHAT??

Since we haven’t been hearing from any women in politics lately, from the front page of NYTimes.com:

For example, we haven’t heard from Hillary Clinton’s voice in a few minutes.

I typed “female legislators” into Google and the first thing that came up was:

Approximately 1,830 women will serve in the 50 state legislatures in 2017.

So the average statehouse has 36.6 female legislators. Is that “few?”

It goes on to say:

Women will make up 24.8 percent of all state legislators nationwide. This represents little change from the 2016 session’s ratio of 24.4 percent.

Back in 2009, women made up 24.2% of state legislators.

In general, not much has changed with women’s representation is most jobs in a few (or more) decades.
