Patrick Kennedy Throws In The Towel

By Matthew Richer

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) has just announced that he is not running for reelection in 2010 citing ”personal reasons.” Translation: he knew he could not win reelection.

The MSM is reporting that Kennedy’s approval ratings have been on the decline, but they neglect to mention the immigration factor. But immigration is now a red hot issue in Rhode Island, and Ted Kennedy’s son has been pathetically open borders for the entire 15 years he’s been in office (career grade of ”F” from NumbersUSA).

Kennedy’s Republican opponent in 2010, R.I. State Rep. John Loughlin, has been a strong supporter of a statewide E-Verify program that Kennedy has opposed. Loughlin has also made several encouraging pro-enforcement statements and recently hired some of Scott Brown’s former campaign advisers.

Imagine a federal government that will be Kennedy free for the first time since 1947? If that’s not progress, I don’t know what is.
