Faux border security champion Rick Perry is reportedly sending 1,000 National Guard troops to the Texas border.Gov. Rick Perry, a vocal critic of the White House’s response to the surge of children and families entering the U.S. illegally, plans to deploy as many as 1,000 National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border, a local lawmaker confirmed Monday.Of course, these Guard troops won’t be able to arrest immigrants, as Rick Perry admitted in an interview with Brit Hume. Perry, who is mulling a second presidential run after his 2012 bid flamed out in a series of public gaffes, spent part of the weekend in Iowa, where he questioned President Barack Obama’s commitment to securing the border and said Texas would do so if the federal government did not. It’s amusing that Rick Perry is criticizing President Obama for not visiting the Texas border to deal with the crisis — but Governor Perry has time to leave the state to campaign in Iowa.
