In its print story about the now famous road-rage shooting in Las Vegas, CNN left out the race of the suspect.NBC put it in, along with a police sketch.
Good for NBC. CNN’s dropping the suspect’s race immediately made me think the suspect is black. Then I read NBC’s account. He’s white.

Refusing to identify a suspect’s race, or only identifying race when the suspect is white, is no service to blacks.
It merely reinforces the reader’s conclusion that the suspect must be black, as VDARE.com has noted, because everyone knows why news organizations refuse to identify the race of suspects: to avoid reinforcing the conclusion that blacks are violent and dangerous.
Thus, when the suspect is white, many readers will still believe he is black.
