Pictured is Rigoberto Gutierrez, accused of rape in Mount Kisco. He’s referred to by Lohud.com as a "Mount Kisco Man", but he appears to be from Oaxaca, or someplace. Is he illegal? Uninquiring minds at Lohud.com don’t want to know:

Rigoberto Gutierrez of 104 Grove St. was arrested by Mount Kisco police Tuesday and charged with two counts of first-degree rape

MOUNT KISCO — A 41-year-old village man was in court Thursday on charges of raping a girl under the age of 11, police said.

Rigoberto Gutierrez of 104 Grove St. was arrested by Mount Kisco police Tuesday and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, a felony. He had intercourse with the girl on two occasions at a residence in the village in April, police said.[More]

In a separate case, a man named Mykyta Panasenko was charged with possessing explosives on a train. He’s referred to as NJ man (New York Daily News), "Jersey City man" (NJ.com), "Man" (Yahoo.com) and 27-year-old man (News 12 New Jersey) but his Facebook page says he’s from Kiev, so he’s actually, of course, "Ukrainian man".

Who is reporting that? (Besides bloggers?) The London Daily Mail: Ukrainian Rutgers student arrested taking two IEDs into New York just a week before Boston Marathon bombing, [April 26, 2013] and the Ukrainian press:Ukrainian detained with bomb in US was unrelated to govt student exchange program, says Ukrainian minister,Interfax Ukraine, April 26, 2013.

While Rigoberto Gutierrez and Mykyta Panasenko may be innocent until proven guilty, the reporters and editors involved are not.

Why would it be relevant that an accused child rapist is from Mexico? Because the age of consent in Mexico is 12.

Why would it be relevant that an accused bomber is from the former Soviet Union? Because we've just had the biggest manhunt ever, after the most spectacular terrorist attack in decade, to hunt down a bomber from the former Soviet Union.
