A Santorum slip of the tongue, via Talking Points Memo:
"“What what Gov. Perry has done is he provided in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, maybe that was an attempt to attract illegal vote — I mean Latino — voters,” Santorum said.
“You attract Latino voters by talking about the importance of immigration in this country,” Santorum said. “We are a melting pot, not a salad bowl, and we need to continue that tradition.”
[Ed. note: some viewers contend that Santorum said “the legal” and not “illegal.” Watch the video for yourself below.]"
This is already getting Santorum grief on Twitter for insensitivity. Of course, Santorum didn’t really think that Republicans could attract illegal voters. It’s stupid for GOP candidates to be trying to attract Latino voters, who are over 60 percent Democratic. Illegal voters are close to 100 percent Democratic.
