From the Washington Post:
Nationals-Padres game suspended after shooting outside Nationals Park, D.C. police say
By Jesse Dougherty
July 17, 2021|Updated today at 11:13 p.m. EDTSaturday night’s game between the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres was suspended after multiple gunshots were fired outside Nationals Park. Four people were shot, D.C. police wrote on Twitter, including two who walked into local hospitals for medical treatment.
Following the shooting, the players were pulled from the field and fans scrambled for cover, hiding behind their seats or retreating from the concourse. Others sprinted for the exits, and, according to multiple people at the game, there were shouts of a “shooter” that led to scrambles all around the building.
… That’s when a large number of people rushed the field with hopes of staying in the dugout. …
During the frantic moments, Padres players were seen pulling their family members — and other fans — out of the stands to find safety in the dugout, where at least 50 people gathered, Hann said.
Zero dead (so far), four wounded. So, according to Sailer’s Law of Mass Shootings, this colorful story will be soon forgotten after a few ritual references to “gun violence descended” and the like.
