There were 12 farm attacks in southern Africa, including one homicide, according to southafricatoday.net.

He had been bludgeoned to death with a blunt object. Van Sittert was assaulted on his farm four days earlier.

His body was found on the neighboring farm Bok se Dam, approximately 150 meters (450 ft) from the entrance gate. Theo de Jager, the chairman of the Southern Africa Agri-Initiative (Saai), remarked, “It appears he may have still been alive and attempting to crawl.”

Keimoes police swiftly apprehended a suspect who was spotted driving Hugo’s truck. Subsequently, the suspect led authorities to a residence where they confiscated a firearm. The individual was taken into custody on charges of illegal firearm possession. Another individual found in the vehicle was also arrested, suspected of possessing a potentially stolen vehicle.

According to reports, the primary suspect was believed to have been an employee of Hugo’s. He, accompanied by a friend, visited Hugo’s residence on Sunday to demand payment of his wages. Allegedly, the suspect claimed that the victim fired shots at them with a .22 rifle, resulting in one of the suspects sustaining a hand injury. Following his apprehension, the suspect provided authorities with information leading to the potential location of Van Sittert’s body.
