Sudanese Immigrant (Refugee?) In Mass Murder Attempt At TN Church — Stopped By Armed White Tennessean

A report of a mass shooting, but not, so far mass murder, at a Tennessee church shows what I would call typical Sudanese marksmanship.

The Daily Caller says:

Tennessee Church Shooter Suspect Identified As 25-Year-Old From Sudan,

by Thomas Phippen, September 24, 2017

Nashville Police have identified the suspect of a mass shooting at a church Sunday morning as 25-year-old Emanuel Kidega Samson.

Samson is being charged with murder and multiple counts of attempted murder in the attack that killed one and left at least seven other people injured at the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, a town just south of Nashville, Tenn.

Samson is a bodybuilder who attended high school in Tennessee and is originally from Karthoum, Sudan, according screenshots of the suspect’s Facebook page obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation before the account was taken down. Police say he is a legal resident and came to the U.S. in the 1990s. More

Kudos to the Daily Caller for saying he was from Sudan — I notice that even so, they aren’t using the word immigrant, let alone refugee. (Any Sudanese who finds himself in rural Tennessee as a child came here as part of the Refugee Resettlement Racket — this kind of thing a predictable consequence. )

He was stopped by a white Tennessean with a gun permit — see Heavy.com for details. The "Five Things" they think you ought to know about Robert Caleb Engle:

1. When Robert Caleb Engle Confronted the Gunman, He Was Pistol-Whipped 2. Engle Got His Gun, Returned, and Held the Shooter at Gunpoint 3. Police Officials Called Engle an 'Exceptionally Brave Individual' and a Hero 4. Engle Posts on Social Media About Family, Faith, and His Support for the Second Amendment 5. About 42 People Were in the Church When the Shooting Started

The thing not worth mentioning — Engle is a white guy.

Engle deserves a lot of credit:

When Robert Engle saw the shooting, he ran up to the gunman to try to stop him, police said. “There was a significant struggle between the two,” said Don Aaron, police spokesman. Samson pistol-whipped Engle during the struggle. Engle was bleeding from his head, but he didn’t let the injury stop him.

Nashville police chief Steve Anderson said Engle was a hero.

“He’s the hero here, he’s the person who stopped this madness in its tracks.”

Engle suffered severe injuries from the confrontation, but is now stable.

Engle, who has a legal permit to carry his gun, ran outside to his car to get his gun after he was pistol-whipped, according to early police reports. The gunman had accidentally shot himself in the chest during their initial struggle.

When he went back into the church, Engle held the shooter at gunpoint while he was bleeding from his head, waiting for the police.

“After the gunman suffered the self inflicted wound, the church usher … ran to his car, got his gun, came back in, and made sure the gunman didn’t make any more movements until the police officers arrived,” Aaron told reporters.

The fact that the gunman "accidentally shot himself in the chest during their initial struggle" but is not, in fact, dead is more evidence of that Sudanese marksmanship I mentioned above.

In 2010, Akouch Kashoual, a “refugee” who worked in a Nebraska cold storage warehouse burst into his place of work, shot three people, and then killed himself. I wrote then

“The victims are still alive — a combination of [Sudanese] marksmanship and American emergency medicine kept any of them from dying, which makes Kashoual’s suicide kind of pointless. If he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and wounding, he'd probably be back on the street — the American street — in 2017.”
Kashoual’s brother, interviewed, made the usual plea to have the victims investigated for racism, but also said
"In my country, we fight with our hands. We don’t use guns."[Shooter’s brother: Find out why he snapped, by Peter Salter, Lincoln Journal Star, September 24, 2010
I know what he means. This is amazing when you consider that this is the material Max Boot wants to recruit for the US Army.

By the way, all credit to Caleb Engle for fighting this guy barehanded and then going to his car and retrieving his gun. After something heroic like that, you hesitate to add after-action criticism, but here it is for our readers sake, not Engle’s, because I suspect he has already figured this one out for himself. If you have a legal permit to carry a gun, don’t leave it in the car.

Otherwise you may find yourself attempting unarmed combat with this guy:
