Back on February 24, I gloomily joked:
I hope none of the millions of Indians who assembled to see Trump’s motorcade has coronavirus.
But, so far, India has been one bright spot: nothing much has happened to India as far as we can tell.
Why does China churn out epidemics, but not so much India? This fellow theorizes that the Chinese love of meat, with the more types of animals the better, is a big source of infectious germs. In contrast, Hindu vegetarianism lessens transmissions from other animals.

Another possibility is that India is more into Social Distancing than China. China is a fairly homogeneous culture, while Indians, riven by caste, tend to find each other untouchable.
