"Workers Of The World?" What About Americans?

Once again, Media Matters accuses Glenn Beck of “smearing” a prominent leftist. (As we’ve noted here before, the left has redefined “smearing” to mean “having the nerve to publicize undisputable facts about our friends that make them and us look bad.”)

Last night on his FOX News show, Glenn Beck reminded viewers that Andy Stern — leader of the super-powerful Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and President Obama’s favorite White House visitor — is fond of quoting Karl Marx’s famous phrase, “Workers of the world unite.”

Right! But as far as "Workers of the world uniting" is concerned, you'd think the Service Employees International Union, which has "2.1 million members united in SEIU across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico," many of whom are unskilled, would worry about the influx of unskilled labor from outside the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, no? No!

In fact, many actual workers are worried, but unlike the old time union organizers (Samuel Gompers, Dennis Kearney, Cesar Chavez, A. Philip Randolph) the new leadership doesn’t care.
