A recently approved House bill will seek to further displace American workers.
Indeed, the $350 billion dollar America Competes Act offers up the new and shiny “W” visa, which benefits three categories of foreign nationals seeking a pathway to citizenship in the United States.
If these foreigner’s are successful in their business ventures, they may soon join the annual tide of 1 million green card winners and therefore be eligible for citizenship.
Michelle Malkin writes: “Only in the Swamp can a bill handing out citizenship for sale to the highest bidders be marketed as a way to help America “compete.”
The House bill will also lift the cap on immigrant visas for foreign nationals and their entire immediate families if they have doctoral degrees in STEM fields. Silicon Valley lobbyists will claim (as they have for decades) that there is a catastrophic shortage of high-skilled, high tech labor.
But the statistics straight from the U.S. government paint a different picture…
According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2019 American Community Survey one-year estimates:
“Among the 50 million employed college graduates ages 25 to 64 in 2019, 37% reported a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering but only 14% worked in a STEM occupation,”
This translates into less than a third (28%) of STEM-educated workers actually working in a STEM job.
But Malkin notes, “that’s just the tip of the iceberg.” Read about how the government intends to spy on College students’ private data and allow third-party companies to buy and sell that data, by sneaking in a last-minute amendment called the College Transparency act.
