America is on the verge of a major victory for anarcho-tyranny — a future where the government refuses to protect citizens it dislikes and relies on its tacit allies on the Left to do the actual repressing. It’s not just coming soon to an America near you — it’s here, unless the Supreme Court takes up VDARE Foundation v. City Of Colorado Springs.
In 2017, VDARE’s planned conference at the Cheyenne Mountain Lodge in Colorado Springs was canceled after the RINO mayor John Suthers proclaimed he would not extend police protection to the event. However, overwhelming case law requires Suthers to uphold the First Amendment rights of even unpopular groups.
We filed a suit against the City of Colorado Springs — what we thought was a straightforward civil rights case. Mayor Suthers refused to settle at a great cost to Colorado tax-payers, and the case was ultimately dismissed by Colorado’s district court. We were then absolutely thunderstruck when the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal last August.
Now our case is on the Supreme Court’s docket, and If the Supreme Court fails to take up our case, that means cities will be newly free to deny police protection to dissidents, exposing them to Antifa violence. This would be a staggering reversal of Civil Rights Era precedent. Fortunately, we will be aided by a powerful and eloquent dissent from the Tenth Circuit’s heroic Judge Harris L. Hartz.
What can Americans do if neither litigation nor legislation is the answer to what can only be described as emerging Woke Totalitarianism?
