Woodrow Wilson, elected president in 1912, was one of only two presidents in U.S. history to have been born a citizen of the Confederate States of America, and was a notable supporter of the resistance to reconstruction after the Civil War.
A quote from Wilson’s History of the United States even appears in the anti-Reconstruction, pro-Klan movie Birth of a Nation, which Wilson had screened at the White House.
It reads:
“The white men were roused by a mere instinct of self-preservation … until at last there had sprung into existence a great Ku Klux Klan, a veritable empire of the South, to protect the Southern country.”
Unfortunately, due to the racial reckoning following the rise of Black Lives Matter as America’s most effective lobby, Wilson’s legacy is being quickly erased across the country.
In New Jersey, the Camden School District launched a campaign to remove the 28th president’s name from Woodrow Wilson High School. In his place, a 100-member committee suggested replacing Wilson’s namesake with that of former president Barack Obama, as well as United States representative John Lewis.
And at Princeton University, where Wilson taught and served from 1902 to 1910 as president, Wilson’s name has been erased from the school of Public and International Affairs.
But the woke mob hasn’t stopped there. Today, Wilson’s boyhood home in Columbia, South Carolina has been rebranded as “The Museum of the Reconstruction Era at the Woodrow Wilson Family Home,” where tourists can engage in, quote, “meaningful conversation about the changing meanings of citizenship over the past 150 years.”
The Museum’s website goes on to advertise exhibits which showcase, quote, “a time when African Americans participated in government, founded churches, claimed access to education and negotiated new terms of labor.”
The one thing you won’t learn about at The Museum of the Reconstruction Era at the Woodrow Wilson Family Home, would be Woodrow Wilson himself.
And so it goes. A United States president who was a staunch supporter of anti-reconstructionists, has himself been posthumously reconstructed.
