Biden Leads With Immigration. But Is Left As Strong As It Looks?

By James Kirkpatrick

01/20/2021

President Joe Biden’s Installation, er, Inauguration is complete and the upcoming battle over Amnesty may decide whether the Historic American Nation can survive his term. President Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris are already receiving embarrassing, worshipful coverage from Regime Media, which will cheerlead the drive to push through immigration liberalization. Biden has already implemented several executive orders reversing some of Trump’s accomplishments. However, there are hopeful signs that the GOP will resist a mass Amnesty bill and the approaching “refugee” caravan will force the issue front-and-center at the very beginning of Biden’s term. By picking a fight on immigration, President Biden is ensuring that nationalists will set the tone for the American Right’s opposition to his Regime. We can only celebrate his hubris.

The hosannas and praise of “democracy” from the Regime Media on Wednesday were a sharp contrast to the non-existent crowds, heavy border security installations, and massive military presence that characterized the ceremony [President Biden’s inauguration goes off with no security issues, by Ben Fox, Colleen Long, and Michael Balsamo, WVTM13, January 20, 2020]. This, combined with the news that the military was screening the troops for political reliability, makes it hard to take rhetoric about “unity” and “healing” seriously [12 National Guard members removed from Biden inauguration, by James Laporta and Michael Balsamo, Associated Press, January 19, 2021]. If we saw this in another country, the same American journalists throwing themselves at the new administration’s feet would be questioning the regime’s stability and legitimacy [Read The Most Nauseating Journo Tweets About Biden’s Inauguration, by Tristian Justice, The Federalist, January 20, 2021].

However, unlike Trump, President Biden is ready to work from day one and is not afraid to use government power. He has already pushed through several executive orders that dramatically change American immigration policy. These include:

[Biden to reverse Trump travel ban, halt wall, strengthen DACA in slew of immigration orders, by Adam Shaw, Fox News, January 20, 2021]

Two executive orders that might appear largely symbolic may be the most far-reaching. First, President Biden has abolished the “1776 Commission” report which sought to define the American nation as something other than racist, white supremacist, and evil [Biden to rescind 1776 commission via executive order, by Caroline Kelly, CNN, January 20, 2021]. This means that the anti-white “1619 Project” interpretation of American history, which incites students against the historic American nation, will once again be taught in schools [The Violent History of White Supremacy Is Rarely Taught In Schools. It Should Be. by Corey Mitchell, EducationWeek, January 20, 2021].

Perhaps even more ominous: an executive order that will order all federal agencies to “review the state of equity” and mandate that “the government is responsible for advancing equity for all, including historically marginalized groups” [In flurry of orders, Biden aims at four ‘converging crises,’ by Joseph Morton, Roll Call, January 20, 2021]. This does not just mean the almost certain return of “federal diversity training on white privilege,” which former president Trump banned during the closing months of his administration. Obviously, if we were doing a review of government agencies and their treatment of whites, we’d find that Affirmative Action policies hurt Asians and whites. However, with “equity” as the standard, we can predict findings that there aren’t enough positions or funding for “historically marginalized groups,” turning every government institution into a jobs fair for non-whites. Whether this will improve our government’s ability to function is doubtful; to adopt our new president’s words, I suspect “this country is doomed.”

And this is just the beginning. President Biden and the Democratic Congress are preparing a massive legislative package that will give tens of millions of illegals Amnesty and a path to citizenship.

This bill would:

[Biden to propose overhaul of immigration laws on first day in office, by Seung Min Kim, Washington Post, January 18, 2021]

The bill would also reportedly include a path to citizenship for illegals of any status, without including any enhanced border security [Biden to propose 8-year citizenship path for immigrants, by Lisa Mascaro and Bill Barrow, Associated Press, January 19, 2020]. The “America’s Citizenship Act of 2021” would also increase number of “diversity visas” and send another four billion dollars of our money to Central America to “address the underlying causes of migration in the region” [Fact Sheet: President Biden Sends Immigration Bill to Congress as Part of His Commitment to Modernize our Immigration System, Vox, January 20, 2021].

One wonders if we’ll see such haste in sending checks to suffering Americans.

This act could also be wrapped up in another larger piece of legislation, thus giving Republicans who support Amnesty but don’t want to be held accountable a way out. We might see Amnesty snuck through via a budget reconciliation bill [Biden’s sweeping immigration bill, explained, by Nicole Narea, Vox, January 20, 2021].

However, there at least some encouraging signs of resistance from congressional Republicans. Senator Josh Hawley, one of the strongest contenders to be the heir of the MAGA movement, blocked quick consideration of President Biden’s selection to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Senator Hawley prevented the Senate Homeland Security Committee from skipping full hearings for nominee Alejandro Mayorkas because “President-elect Biden has said he plans to unveil an Amnesty plan for 11 million immigrants in this nation illegally” [Hawley blocks quick consideration of Biden DHS nominee, citing ‘Amnesty’ plan, by Adam Shaw, Fox News, January 19, 2021]. Senator Hawley continued that Biden’s Amnesty is especially absurd because “millions of Americans remain out of work” and the DHS Secretary must explain “how he will enforce federal law and secure the southern border given President-elect Biden’s promise to roll back major enforcement and security measures.”

My only criticism: there are far more than 11 million illegal immigrants in this country.

Marco Rubio, who may be looking to run for president again in 2024, is already calling the bill a “non-starter” and a “blanket Amnesty for people who are here unlawfully” [Biden Immigration Plan Is Non-Starter, Marco Rubio, January 19, 2021].

Even Senator Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, has called it “mass Amnesty” and Roll Call says there will be a “tough Senate fight” [Biden’s immigration bill faces difficult path in Senate, by Michael Macagnone, January 19, 2021].

Events may also be conspiring against Biden. The provisions for a path to citizenship only apply for those who were already in the country on January 1, 2021. Those in the current invasion column, er, “refugee caravan” heading north would not be eligible. Migrants in Central America may miss the nuances of what President Biden is trying to accomplish and swarm the border, leading to scenes of chaos and anarchy that would strengthen the Republican case for more border security.

Of course, this presupposes the Regime Media would permit such scenes to be shown. That’s questionable given that alternative media are being systematically deplatformed at their demand.

And even if we see strong Republican opposition and a chaotic environment on the border, it will be a tough fight to stop the bill. The Democrats enjoy a Senate majority. Their pet journalists are clearing the way for destroying the filibuster. To guarantee a permanent demographic majority, it would make sense for the Democrats to Murder the Filibuster and Never Look Back, to cite Osita Nwanevu’s January 19, 2021 article in the New Republic. Republicans might be angry, but what difference would they make if they are permanently outnumbered?

Yet there would be a reaction — perhaps something the current political system can’t contain. We are in a hysterical climate with large numbers of Americans demanding online censorship, a crusade against “whiteness” (even the multiracial kind), and wild threats against illusory “insurrectionists.” Somehow, those in power are the ones panicking.

When we see a Capitol empty of cheering crowds but full of soldiers, journalists slobbering over political leaders like this is North Korea, and a general collapse in social trust, we can question whether the Left is really as strong as it appears.

On paper, the Left has the power to radically change the very structure of the country. Yet many Americans see the current Regime as illegitimate. Even moderates tell pollsters they would prefer the government focus on the economy and the pandemic rather than culture wars [AP-NORC poll: Virus, economy swamp other priorities for US, by Nicholas Riccardi and Hannah Fingerhut, Associated Press, January 19, 2021]. Mass Amnesty, political persecution, and an impeachment trial for a president who already left office would spark a backlash that would make Donald Trump look like Jimmy Carter.

And even if they pass something, their changes might not stick. At the very least, it would make it difficult for the Democrats to hold their razor-thin majorities in the midterm elections.

An increasing number of Americans are aware that they have lost their country. Picking an early fight on immigration will be a sure way for the Democrats to awaken even more.

The immigration battle is inevitable, but the Democrats are arrogant and careless to fight it so early. If Democrats choose unlimited immigration over helping suffering Americans, they will have opened the way for the strong nationalist leader many were hoping for in 2016.

The way this battle plays out will determine whether Donald Trump was the Historic American Nation’s last gasp.

I suspect it is just the beginning of something greater.
