AMLO Thanks Biden for the Open Borders

On November 17, President Joe Biden had a meeting with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) in San Francisco. Both were in the city attending the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit. Biden spoke in English and AMLO in Spanish.

AMLO’s comments fit in with what he’s said before, indicating how he views immigration and American citizens of Mexican ancestry.

“[T]here are nearly 40 million Mexicans living and working honorably in the United States” he said — including, of course, American citizens of Mexican descent born here.

AMLO effusively thanked Traitor Joe for opening the borders:

I want to thank President Biden who is the first president of the U.S. in recent times to open a legal path for migration. Before that there was no possibility for someone who needs to come to the United States, no legal possibility. It is President Biden who opens this option, this possibility, through an application by migrants from countries of Central America and the Caribbean. They do the paperwork, and in accordance with an evaluation, they are permitted to enter the United States.

APEC: Reuni贸n bilateral de los presidentes de M茅xico y Estados Unidos (“APEC: Bilateral meeting of the presidents of Mexico and the United States”), Gob.mx, November 17, 2023

Was AMLO saying that before the Biden presidency there was no legal avenue for foreigners to immigrate into the United States?

Anyway, AMLO also discussed Biden’s illegal parole and prelegalization schemes, available for some illegals through U.S. Custom and Border Protection’s One Mobile app:

What does this mean? That they don’t have to cross all our country with all the suffering the risks that that implies. It is a humane way of attending to the migratory phenomenon.

Forgetting to explain why all those “migrants” are even making it to the U.S. border (because Mexico is permitting it), AMLO tipped his hat to his “migrant countrymen” living here:

I take advantage of the opportunity to send a greeting to our paisanos migrantes, especially the Mexicans who lives and work [sic] in the United States. As I said, nearly 40 million, this is their second fatherland.

But not their first fatherland. Until possibly it becomes the same fatherland?

AMLO is a big Biden fan. Biden is a “a man of convictions, a good man,” .

Mexico Meddles Yet Again on New Texas Law

Texas, Ground Zero in the Biden Border Rush, is resisting it, though we always wish more strongly.

With its recently approved SB4, the Texas legislature criminalized illegal entry into Texas from outside the U.S. and permits Texas to return illegal aliens to a port of entry [Gov. Abbott prepares to sign immigration law SB4; advocates call it racist, unconstitutional, by Keenan Willard, NBC4DFW, November 19, 2023]. But the Mexican government wants veto power!

Earlier, on November 15, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said Texas is racist and anti-immigrant, and, of course, because Mexico opposes the bill, Texas mustn’t pass it:

In relation to Senate Bill 4 passed by the Texas Legislature, the Foreign Ministry, on behalf of the Government of Mexico, expresses its rejection of these anti-immigrant measures that aim to stop the flow of migrants by criminalizing them. This legislation will result in the separation of families, discrimination and racial profiling.

The Government of Mexico recognizes the sovereign right of a country to determine the public policies that are implemented in its territory. Nevertheless, it respectfully expresses its own legitimate right to protect the rights of its nationals in the United States, and to determine its own policies regarding entry into its territory. Therefore, the Government of Mexico categorically rejects any measure that allows state or local authorities to detain and return Mexican or foreign nationals to Mexican territory.

Mexican Government opposes the anti-immigrant legislation, Gob.mx, November 15, 2023

And just to be sure everyone understands, the ministry repeated itself:

Mexico reiterates its rejection of any measure that involves the involuntary return of migrants without respect for due process.

In fact, of course, the U.S. has the right to expel any foreigner it wants. It also has the right to expel non-Mexicans to Mexico if they entered the U.S. through Mexico, as most of them do.

The Mexican foreign ministry also fears that the legislation might “affect the human rights of the more than 10 million people of Mexican origin residing in Texas, by fostering hostile environments that may lead to hate acts or crimes against migrant communities.”

That “10 million people of Mexican origin,” as usual, includes U.S. citizens born in Texas.

Thus did the Mexican Directorate General of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning, headed by lesbian Vanessa Calva, a major meddler in Florida, order the eleven consulates in Texas to do the following:

  1. Hold more meetings with partner authorities, legislators and civil rights groups to strengthen their presence in the state.
  2. Hold a virtual or Austin-based meeting with the Mexican Civil Rights Advisory Group (MCRAG) to explore collaborative actions that benefit the Mexican community.
  3. Conduct information workshops on the legislation.
  4. Print and distribute information about preventive measures at key locations.
  5. Strengthen the “Know and exercise your Rights” campaign and publicize the phone number of the Center for Information and Assistance for Mexicans (CIAM), which operates 24/7, in the media, on social networks and through partner groups.
  6. With the support of local partners, provide free immigration status assessments.
  7. Provide free legal and immigration advice through the lawyers participating in the External Legal Advice Program (PALE).
  8. Strengthen their ties with the local Mexican communities they serve, to understand their concerns and needs.

Mexico also warned that it will continue meddling in U.S. federal and state affairs, and that its consular officials are “ready to respond to any violation” of “human rights.”

It’s time for immigration patriot governors, most notably Texas Governor Greg Abbott, to tell Mexico to mind its business and STOP MEDDLING IN STATE AND LOCAL AFFAIRS.

Federal legislation to shut down every Mexican consulate in the country is a good idea, too.

Right Still Rising in Spain

July’s elections in Spain yielded no clear winner, and negotiations continued through October, when socialist President Pedro Sanchez received the support of Catalan separatists (Spain’s northeast area of Catalonia is linguistically distinct) to form a government. The deal included amnesties for those involved in the 2017 Catalan independence bid [Spanish Socialists and Catalan Junts reach deal for government support, amnesty, Reuters, November 10, 2023].

The attempted murder of Alejo Vidal-Quadras, a Vox Party founder, soon followed. Cops arrested two Spaniards and a British woman, although the drive-by motorbike shooting might be connected to Vidal-Quadras’ support for an opposition faction in Iran [Spanish politician shot in Madrid points finger at Iran, Reuters, November 22, 2023].

Protesters who oppose the deal and the new government recently packed Madrid’s Puerta de Sol plaza.

The demonstrations attracted the attention of Tucker Carlson, who showed up and interviewed Vox leader Santiago Abascal:

Ep. 40 Spain’s descent into tyranny seems eerily familiar. Opposition leader Santiago Abascal is one of the few people standing up to it. We traveled to Madrid to talk to him.

Sanchez’s hold on power might not last long. A poll in September divulged that 70 percent of respondents — 59 percent of them Leftists — opposed a Catalan amnesty [Spain’s acting PM Sanchez backs Catalan amnesty deal in bid to form government, Reuters, October 28, 2023].

That suggests another election within a year.

Whatever you think of Catalonian independence, there’s still immigration patriot fight left in the land of the first Reconquista.

Libertarian Is Argentina’s President-Elect

Big changes might be afoot in Argentina, where Libertarian Javier Milei won the presidential election and is scheduled to move into La Casa Rosada (the Pink House) on December 10th [Fiery right-wing populist Javier Milei wins Argentina’s presidency and promises ‘drastic’ changes, by Daniel Politi and David Biller, Associated Press, November 20, 2023].

Milei pledges to radically slash government spending and eliminate 11 of 19 government departments, to dollarize the economy, and eliminate the central bank.

Milei is eccentric and entertaining, claiming that his dogs are his best advisors. (One could do a lot worse!) The dogs’ names: Murray (after Murray Rothbard), Milton (after Milton Friedman), Robert and Lucas, the latter two named after Robert Lucas. What’s more, the four dogs are cloned from his previous dog Conan, who died in 2017. [“Mis hijos de cuatro patas”: de qu茅 raza son los cinco perros de Javier Milei, a quienes le dedic贸 su victoria en las PASO 2023 (“‘My children of four feet’: what breed are the five dogs of Javier Milei, to whom he dedicated his victory in the 2023 Primary Election,”), La Nacion, August 14, 2023].

This guy is not your standard, mail-order politician. But he’s probably what it would take to reform Argentina. It’s not going to be easy. Libertarianism is a foreign concept to many Latin Americans.

As for VDARE.com’s signature issue, here’s what he says about immigration:

  1. Though pro-immigration, he has cited Milton Friedman’s famous dictum that a welfare state cannot have open borders. His party platform also calls for the immediate expulsion of criminal foreigners [Milei y la migraci贸n paraguaya: qu茅 opina el candidato libertario y qu茅 podr铆a pasar si gana (“Milei and the Paraguayan migration: what does the Libertarian candidate think and what would occur if he won”), La Pol铆tica Online, October 27, 2023].
  2. The party website and comments by Diana Mondino, the probable foreign minister, promises “conditional migration.” Immigrants must pay taxes and face immediate deportation if they commit a crime [La futura Canciller de Milei defendi贸 la propuesta de migraci贸n “condicionada” (“The Future Foreign Minister of Milei Defends the Conditional Migration Proposal”), El Cronista, October 27, 2023].
  3. Milei favors “certain restrictions to foreign nationals, such as the payment of residency fees, the prohibition of entry to those with criminal records, and the immediate deportation of non-Argentine criminals” [Javier Milei’s Presidential Platform: Privatization, Gun Rights, and Immigration Restrictions, MercoPress, May 18, 2023].

We’ve seen worse.

FWIW, Donald Trump congratulated Milei’s triumph: “MAKE ARGENTINA GREAT AGAIN!”
