A California High School Teacher Predicts America’s Future

Re: Athena Kerry’s Column: Down With Texism and Treason! Happy San Jacinto Day!
As indicated in Kerry’s superior column, San Jacinto Day is very special.
On April 21st, 170-years ago, small army of Texians led by Sam Houston routed and destroyed the Mexican Army under General Santa Anna, with the battle cry of "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad".
Not two months before Santa Anna captured the Alamo and killed all its heroic defenders. And only weeks before that, another small detachment of Texians had surrendered to the Mexicans at Golaid on promise that they would be spared.
Instead, upon their surrender, Santa Anna butchered all his prisoners. In contradistinction after the Battle of San Jacinto, the Mexican prisoners, including Santa Anna himself, were spared, providing a lesson in what to expect from Mexican and from gringo in turn.
San Jacinto won independence for the Republic of Texas. April 21st is a glorious anniversary and day for celebration for all of us.
Raise a glass and give a toast. Just don’t drink Tequila or Corona.
