A Reader Remembers East Germany…And PC Arizona

From: Dr. John H. Tanton

To: The Editors, The Wall Street Journal

Re: The Wall Street Journal, "Borderline Republicans," June 17, 2004, p. A18

I’m having trouble sorting out the immigration reform movement’s political orientation. Your editorial finds us "in the political left …" The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) places us on the right. Averaging the two views puts us in the center, which I hold to be the case.

That leaves The Wall Street Journal and the SPLC at the extremes.

As a devotee of the concept that there is no such thing as bad publicity, I thank you for the editorial, even with all your loaded language. And thanks also for spelling my name right!

[VDARE.COM note: Dr. John H. Tanton is the founder of Federation for American Immigration Reform and, as such, apparently ineligible for the usual journalistic courtesy that victims of personal attacks get to defend themselves. To the Journalistas about their manners, click here.]
