The Libertarian Party thought this was going to be the year they break through into political relevance by nominating not one, but two former governors. Unfortunately for them, the LP has served to confirm all the most ridiculous stereotypes about their political party. Open borders fanatic Gary Johnson seems to be going out of his way to humiliate himself and his supporters, from his infamous "what is Aleppo?" moment to his bizarre behavior during interviews. The fat, naked guy who started dancing during the Libertarian Party convention was simply a harbinger of things to come.Johnson’s Vice-Presidential nominee Bill Weld, "a living exemplar of WASP degeneracy and the collapse of the former American ruling class," is already moving to cut his losses by essentially ceasing to campaign for the Libertarian ticket [The Death of Libertarianism and the Rise of the Alt Right, by Gregory Hood, Counter Currents, August 29, 2016]. Instead, he has a much more important objective for the cause of "limited government" — making sure Hillary Clinton becomes the next president.
While Weld insisted he still supports Johnson, he said he is now interested primarily in blocking Trump from winning the presidency and then potentially working with longtime Republican leaders such as Mitt Romney and Haley Barbour to create a new path for the party after the election.Haley Barbour is simply a Treason lobbyist, someone who is consciously betraying his people and his country in order to get cheap labor for his donors. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney seems to be going out of his way to try to throw the election for the Democrats just so he can virtue signal to journalists who hate him anyway [Mitt Romney, "Conscious" Cuckservative, by Gregory Hood, Radix, June 27, 2016].“Maybe somebody is going to come up with a new playbook, and I don’t know who it’s going to be, but it would be fun to participate,” Weld said in a telephone interview from Atlanta, where he was holding a fund-raiser and rally and planned to watch and tweet about Tuesday night’s vice-presidential debate featuring his major-party rivals, Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Mike Pence.
Weld, a former Republican governor of Massachusetts, said he is focusing on Trump because, while he disagrees with Hillary Clinton on fiscal and military issues, Trump’s agenda is so objectionable it’s “in a class by itself.”
“I think Mr. Trump’s proposals in the foreign policy area, including nuclear proliferation, tariffs, and free trade, would be so hurtful, domestically and in the world, that he has my full attention,” Weld said …
“I have had in mind all along trying to get the Donald into third place, and with some tugging and hauling, we might get there,” Weld said.

After Ron Paul gave libertarianism the biggest boost it had received in decades, there was a lot of discussion about a new "libertarian era" in American politics. However, Rand Paul failed to catch in in the Republican primaries this year. And the contemporary libertarian movement appears as nothing so much as controlled opposition to defang anyone in a position to challenge Clinton style neoliberalism.
Rather than challenging the establishment, Weld’s comments show today’s libertarians are deciding to join it. And they are far less interested in limiting the power of the state than ensuring it remains in the hands of the anti-American Left.
