BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore could surpass New York City in homicides this year.
The Baltimore Sun reports that for the first time Baltimore, with a population of less than 620,000, could record more murders in a single year than New York, which has a population of 8.5 million.
As of Sept. 3, Baltimore has recorded 238 homicides, while New York City has seen 182 murders.
For awhile after that fat black guy selling contraband cigarettes died of a heart attack in Staten Island, it looked like New York City was going to go the way of St. Louis after Ferguson (August 2014). But then a BLM enthusiast murdered two NYPD officers in December 2014. The NYPD more or less mutinied against Mayor de Blasio turning their backs to him at the funeral, and the crime rate shot up. But then Hizzoner gave in, and Bill Bratton went back to running the NYPD the way he wanted.
After all, too many important people live in NYC to let leftists have their way with the place. New York let liberals take over criminal justice a half century ago, and nobody wants to make that mistake again.
In contrast, Baltimore’s murder rate kicked into overdrive with the Freddie Gray BLM riot of the spring of 2015 and, with a black political leadership in the city, hasn’t come down yet.
