Arizona’s Brewer: At last, a Champion?

While generally the Obamacrat Day of Infamy — the implementation of Administrative Amnesty — has been greeted with what sounds suspiciously like a “Me-Too” silence from Romney and the Congressional GOP, one champion has stepped forward. Politico whined Gov. Jan Brewer defies W.H. on immigration by Mackenzie Wienger 8/16/12

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed an executive order on Wednesday to deny benefits to young illegal immigrants who qualify under the White House’s new deferred action policy.

The Republican governor issued the order in response to the Obama administration’s decision to allow eligible illegal immigrants under 30 the chance to apply for a work permit in the United States …

The new deferred action program “does not confer upon them any lawful or authorized status and does not entitle them to any additional public benefits,” Brewer wrote in her order

The Christian Science Monitor has a more analytical account: Jan Brewer leads 'constitutional throwdown' against DREAM Act-lite by Patrik Jonsson August 16 2012.

This starts with the highest estimate I have seen yet of the size of the torrent expected to pour through the Obama loophole:

President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which took effect Wednesday, allows as many as 2 million illegal immigrants who were brought to the US as children and meet several other criteria to apply for a two-year deportation deferral.

and continues

Brewer’s latest move could be part of an effort to build support in Congress and other states to challenge the constitutionality of DACA, which critics say goes beyond the White House’s constitutional purview…

Brewer’s order “is a broader challenge to the federal government, because this [Obama] order, this policy, is clearly illegal,” says Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies,…“It’s trying to set up a confrontation that will focus not just on Governor Brewer’s order but on the illegality of the president’s policy."

VDARE.com salutes Governor Jan Brewer. She may have been late to the cause, and Roger Devlin said reviewing her book

Jan Brewer is probably the closest thing America has left to a citizen politician… Brewer still fails to betray the least suspicion that opposition to SB 1070 might be not be related to any alleged “civil rights” concerns — but sheer demographic warfare against the historic American nation.

But alone amongst the Republican leaders she was ready with a cogent and brave response to the long-heralded Amnesty implementation. (So brave that Mark Krikorian’s media home National Review Online has avoided mentioning it.)

I see Lew Rockwell addressing his Paul confederates has proposed — entirely rationally given Romney’s foreign policy subservience — that his friends should not vote: The Only Choice on November 6th LewRockwell.com August 15, 2012

Maybe Immigration Patriots, faced with mounting evidence that Romney’s immigration policies are going to be subordinate to the Cheap Labor Lobby or worse will respond by writing in Jan Brewer for President.
