NYT: “When The Novelty Of Skiing In California In August Wears Off, The Terror Sinks In”

By Steve Sailer

08/07/2023

This NYT oped shows why “global warming” was rebranded “climate change.” For example, 2023 has been cool and wet in California, which would be off-narrative under the old “global warming” brand, but now is “terror”-inducingly on-narrative under the “climate change” brand.

Everybody loves to talk about the weather. For instance, every town in America has a few local celebrities whose job is to go on TV and talk about what it’s like outside. So now we have an all-purpose apocalyptic ideological justification for engaging in our love of Weather Porn.

People love talking about the weather, but for serious news media like the NYT, devoting a lot of attention to the weather long seemed déclassé. But now any bit of weather news, hot or cold, wet or dry, can be shoehorned into the “climate change” narrative, so it’s all good for the NYT bottom line.
